A Philippine bases search engine optimization discussion group headed by Mr. Marc Macalua, a Search Engine Optimization Practitioner and the Founder of SEO Phillipines, together with key sponsors have launched an SEO Competition, the first of it's kind in the Filipino Community, with the desire to test the skills of it's members and encourage more people to learn the technology. They strongly believe that a race to adhere to filipino skills and the search engine standards will not only provide a basic optimization knowledge, but will also allow prospective customers to know who they can turn to in case they require such services.
The four month race started June 1, 2006 at 12 noon, Philippine time and ends September 29, 2006 at 8 pm Philippine time.
Several local Companies and Freelance groups Generously granted their donations for the winning entries and accumulated over 130,000 pesos in total prices. To win the race, an official entry should register at the seophilippines.org with their contest entry, aim to the top eight positions in Google Search Engine Results Page on the keywords "isulong seoph". Several other restrictions can be found on the SEO Philippines discussion group website.
